On Tuesday, January 11, 2022, nine Arlington High School Mandarin students, mostly seniors, received awards for their submissions into the 18th Chinese Learning Association of Secondary-Elementary Schools National Essay contest.
The Chinese Learning Association of Secondary-Elementary Schools (CLASS) is a professional organization, primarily devoted to providing professional support to primary and secondary education Chinese language teachers. CLASS organizes the essay contest each year. This year’s topic is about “life after the COVID-19 Pandemic.” Participants may choose to write about what they want to do the most, someone they want to visit the most, the impact the COVID-19 Pandemic had on them and their family/friends, or a story that has happened during the pandemic.
Four AHS students received an honorable mention, two received the Silver Award, and three students received the Gold Award. All participants were very excited to see how well they performed and for the opportunity to exercise their Mandarin knowledge in a national competition.
